The Hook

A single Kuo-toa has risen to power in the tribe. The new leader has befriended a clutch of young Phase Spiders, making them powerful allies. The tribe now frequently participates in frequent raids.

Inspiration to Draw on

Now these guys are like little Kuo-toa Clerics. Kuo-toa are these little bipedal fish people that have in some lores been enslaved by the Drow and in more recent lore has been enslaved and broken by the Illithids. They are scavengers of sorts, and the y want to capture not kill. You can tell from their pincer staff that they are more inclined to capture. But why?

I like to think that these creatures have been enslaved for so long that they are super dependent on stronger forces. It might be fun to treat these guys like Universal Picture film Minions. The search out stronger beings to team up with and because of this they tend to need to appease those beings. Sometimes that might mean feeding it. Use your imagination and remember these monsters are not stealthy.

Check out D&D Beyond or your always near to hand copy of Monster Manual for more history on the Kuo-toa Whip and remember to have fun with it!
