The Hook

"Awaken my child" the snarl calls telepathically. "Go, thirst for knowledge. Feast on words and serve your Queen well. Find the Orbs Of Dragonkind and return." The new Abishai bows and begins its spell.

Inspiration to Draw on

The Abishai are rich with little story hooks that you can sink you DM/GM teeth into. To start, standard lore suggest that Abishai we once the most devout of Tiamat’s followers and after they died Tiamat looked favorably upon them and change their soul into an Abishai devil form. The Abishai also straddle a gray area of who is in command of them. The owe their undying allegiance to Tiamat, but the Devil Power hierarchy can get a little complicated after that and very political. So this means they can work as great plot twists and double agents.

The Blue Abishai are special as they are the most intelligent of their ilk and tend to become powerful spell casters. This is great for a battle commander positions in the Blood War if Tiamat or Asmodeus commands it. They could also be fantastic cult leaders on the Prime Material Plane.

With knowing they are the most devout and favored by Tiamat, there is no doubt that Abishai are arrogant. They would hold them selves high in their own minds and this would probably affect their physical demeanor too.

You can really amp up the flavor on them by figuring out what they were in life and why Tiamat would have favored them. Those two things will go a long way to fleshing out an adventure or campaign that focuses on your Abishai as a fleshed out antagonist.
